Joe Biden Shares Tribute to ‘Good Friend’ Jimmy Carter on 100th Birthday

President Joe Biden has posted a heartwarming video of him and “good friend” Jimmy Carter to mark the former president’s 100th birthday.
Biden, who posted the clip to his X (formerly Twitter) account, captioned it “To put it simply: I admire you so darn much.”
The video consists of images of Carter as president and of his later work, including his more than 35 years of volunteering with the non-profit Habitat for Humanity.
In a voiceover, Biden says of Carter: “You’ve always been a moral force for our nation in the world.”
He also says that Carter is a “voice of courage, conviction, compassion, and most of all a beloved friend to Jill, me, and my family.”
Biden continues: “Your hopeful vision of our country, your commitment to a better world, and your unwavering belief in the power of human goodness, continues to be a guiding light for all of us.
Biden also calls Carter one of the most influential statemen in U.S. history, and says that Carter’s “moral clarity” has shone through even after leaving office.
Biden ends the video with a picture of himself as a young senator meeting with Carter in the Oval Office, and says, “You’ve been a good friend.”
Biden was not the only former president to post a heartfelt tribute to Carter on his birthday.
Former President Barack Obama also posted a video to his X account in which he speaks directly to the camera, saying: “I have always admired President Carter for many things. His accomplishments in the White House. His incredible impact since leaving office. His fundamental decency.
“Jimmy, thank you for your friendship, your example, and for always finding new ways to remind us that we are all created in God’s image. Happy birthday.”
Georgia Governor Brian Kemp declared today Jimmy Carter Day in the State of Georgia. Kemp posted on X: “Marty, the girls, and I send him best wishes as he and his family celebrate this milestone.”
Carter has become the first American President to reach 100 years old, an event marked by the X account “How Many Days Until Jimmy Carter Turns 100?”
The account posted today, saying: “It’s midnight in Georgia…the moment we’ve been waiting for! Jimmy Carter is now officially 100 years old! Happy birthday Mr. President.”
Also in celebration, the Jimmy Carter Presidential Library and Museum is offering admission for $1 (100 cents), and is hosting Peter Biello for a live broadcast of his show on Georgia Public Broadcast and National Public Radio, “All Things Considered.”
